"We will go with our young and old, with our sons and daughters, and with our flocks and herds, because we are to celebrate a festival to the LORD." -Exodus 10:9 (NIV)

The first worship service each Sunday at Jasper First Methodist begins at 8:30 AM and is in the contemporary style, including a live Praise Band. As the numbers in our Tradition Service were on a slight decline several years back, our church embraced the national trend toward less formal worship and started it's Celebration Service.

Contemporary worship music takes a significant part of the service time and repetition of phrases reinforces the theological content of the service. The impact is heightened as creeds and formal prayers are seldom used, although personal prayer time at the alter or from the pew is encouraged. As has been seen in other churches, our contemporary worship has had the power to recharge our congregation, even to serve as a catalyst for growth.
